About

Ioana Simion graduated cum laude from the University of Amsterdam with an MSc in Artificial Intelligence. Her Master’s thesis, entitled “3DPoV: Improving 3D Understanding via Patch Ordering on Videos”, focused on 3D-aware visual understanding from videos in a self-supervised manner, leveraging a patch ordering mechanism. The thesis was supervised by Mohammadreza Salehi, Prof. Yuki Asano, and Prof. Cees G. M. Snoek.

During her Master’s program, she completed an internship at Uber, where she worked on automated retraining and monitoring pipelines for large-scale Global Payments models. Prior to her studies, she worked for three years at J.P. Morgan, first as a DevOps engineer on the High-Performance Computing (HPC) team and later as a Python engineer in a Central Payments engineering team.

She joined the Musculoskeletal Lab in November 2025, where she works under the supervision of Hoel Kervadec and Clarisa Sánchez on shape analysis in medical imaging.
