Ishika Mahajan obtained her master’s degree in Imaging Engineering from Maastricht University. Her master’s thesis research was carried out at Maastro, a radiation therapy clinic, where she worked on generating synthetic-CT from CBCT images using AI for adaptive radiotherapy. She also worked part-time at Medis Medical Imaging as part of their applied research team.
In 2025, Ishika joined as a PhD candidate at the cardiovascular lab at Amsterdam UMC. Her research is part of the consortium “AI4AI: Artificial Intelligence for Accessible Medical Imaging” under the joint supervision of Prof. Ivana Išgum and Dr. Nils Planken. She will also be co-supervised by Dr. Richard Takx. Her work will focus on developing AI-based algorithms to predict patient-specific image acquisition parameters for optimal image quality and algorithms to autonomously quantify markers of coronary artery disease to extend the applicability of affordable scanners and reduce the need for specialized expert analysis.
