Ylva is a PhD candidate within the SELECT-AI project, a collaboration between the Amsterdam UMC, the University of Amsterdam and the Netherlands Cancer Institute. In this project, she develops deep learning methods to predict biomarkers from histopathology whole slide images, aiming to enable personalized immunotherapy for patients with gastroesophageal cancer. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Technical Medicine from the TU Delft, Ylva combines her expertise in technology and healthcare as a technical physician. Her aim is to bridge the gap between fundamental AI research and clinical practice, making sure that innovations truly benefit patients
