Ioanna completed her undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering and Informatics at the University of Patras, Greece. She obtained her master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Amsterdam. Her master’s thesis, conducted at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) under the supervision of Prof. Wilson Silva and Prof. Yuki Asano, was focused on self-supervised learning for 3D radiology images. She developed a task for spatially dense representation learning by generating clusters of organ parts from unlabeled data and analyzed its impact on tumor and organ segmentation. In 2025, she joined the qurAI Cardiovascular Lab at the Amsterdam UMC as a PhD candidate within the consortium “Artificial Intelligence for Accessible Medical Imaging (AI4AI)”, supervised by Prof. Ivana Isgum. Further, Ioanna is co-supervised by Dr. Saitta and Dr. Richard Takx. Her research centers on developing AI-based image analysis methods for coronary artery disease diagnosis using non-invasive coronary CT, with a focus on robustness to outliers and visual artifacts.
