At the Amsterdam Reproduction & Development retreat on November 4th, 2021, Louis van Harten and Ivana Išgum presented a two-part keynote lecture on Deep Learning in medical image analysis. Louis presented the basics of machine learning and deep learning technology and thereafter, Ivana illustrated how deep learning can be used for quantitative evaluation of brain development. The enthusiastic response of the clinical researchers attending affirmed the value of scientific communication across the boundaries of our fields, and we hope the discussions afterward will spark fruitful collaborations in the future.
