About project

In the vast majority of patients, acute coronary syndrome or sudden cardiac death is the direct consequence of unrecognized ischemic heart disease (IHD). Early diagnosis of patients with IHD provides opportunities for timely treatment. The EARLY-SYNERGY program brings together population-based screening for cardiovascular risk with CT and subsequent early diagnosis for ischemic heart disease (IHD) with MRI. Based on coronary artery calcification (CAC) screening with CT, patients with high risk can be identified. High-risk patients receive an MRI scan to assess whether the patient suffers from IHD. In this project which is part of the EARLY-SYNERGY program, we develop deep learning techniques for automatic and accurate selection of patients at risk of IHD based on CT scans.
