About

Freerk Venhuizen studied Electrical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where he focused mainly on (medical) signal-, image- and video processing. He conducted his Master thesis, entitled “Sensor fusion and inconsistency detection in a multiple model particle filter framework”, in collaboration with Thales Nederland B.V.. From January 2014 until December 2017, he worked as a PhD student in the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group on the development and evaluation of automatic image analysis methods of OCT scans, supervised by Clarisa Sánchez. Results of the work he carried out in the group were reported in his thesis, entitled “Machine Learning for Quantification of Age-Related Macular Degeneration Imaging Biomarkers in Optical Coherence Tomography”, defended in December 2019.
