About

Laura graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University Carlos III of Madrid. During her master’s studies in Artificial Intelligence at Vrije Universiteit, she wrote her thesis at the Diagnostic Image Analysis Group (DIAG) of Radboud University Medical Center. Her master’s thesis focused on assessing deep learning techniques for automatic segmentation of hepatic and splenic trauma injuries from CT imaging. She has also collaborated on a research project with the Urology Department at the OLVG for the prediction of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) success for renal stones. In 2023 Laura joined the qurAI group and the Department of Cardiology at the Amsterdam UMC as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Ivana Isgum and Dr. Fleur Tjong. Here, she investigates deep learning models for predicting Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) based on MRI and electrocardiogram (ECG) data.
