Riaan obtained his master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence Cum Laude at the University of Amsterdam. He pursued his PhD at the Amsterdam UMC, location UMC and the University of Amsterdam under the supervision of Henk Marquering, Ivana Išgum, and Efstratios Gavves. His thesis focused on developing deep-learning-based image segmentation methods for uncommon ischemic stroke. Currently, he is working in the Neonatal Brain Lab as a PostDoc ondeep learning techniques for image segmentation and artefact reduction techniques for MRI scans of neonates that are suffering from cerebrovascular disease.
