RESEARCH AREAS
The amount of coronary artery calcification as quantified with CT images is a strong and independent predictor of cardiovascular events. The goal of this project is to develop a system for automatic identification, characterization and quantification of calcified plaque in coronary arteries using cardiac CT scans to enable determination of cardiovascular risk in individual patients. The project is carried out at the Image Sciences Institute, UMC Utrecht and it is funded by Pie Medical Imaging.
